Overview

15A DC Motor Speed Control Module
Power supply :12/24 VDC
Load voltage : 12/24 VDC / 15A max
Output : controlled DC motor by PWM ( Pulse With Modulation )
Range : 0 - 100 %

Fully assembled & tested module.

Use the MX033 to control the speed of your electric motor or brightness of a DC light bulb. Obtain low speed from a DC motor without sacrificing torque. The MX033 is a small assembled device with an on-board pot to control the pulse width modulator output.

Seems that there are a few that do not understand convection cooling. The module has no fan, so it relies on air movement to carry the heat away from the transistors and traces. If you enclose this module in a housing you must provide a way for the heat to escape or be forced out, with a fan.

The hotter the module runs the shorter its life span, you need to check your setup under load and make sure the heat does not build up during use. Although this module is rated for 15 amps, it cannot operate at this current continously if the heat builds up and is not removed. Bigger is always better when it comes to driving inductive loads, so always go bigger. With a 10 amp load this module generates a bit of heat and requires some sort of air movement over the PCB and heat sinks. 15 Amps requires a fan, and best not used for this type of load with a high duty cycle or long run times, one of the most popular uses is for heated clothing, and the best enviroment for the module as its cool out.

So, to repeat this,

Keep in mind that you should determine how hot the unit gets. If it gets too hot it will fail. In order to be able to carry high amperage for extended periods of time, you will need to provide additional cooling. The unit will carry up to 15 amps but not for long periods of time. Use common sense when powering large loads.

In April 2013 we tested this module with a 18 Amp load, %95 On time and a short off time, and fan assisted air flow. The module performed perfectly. If you want to keep things cooler, add an extra an EMF suppression diode externally across your inductive load. This will allow you to carry full current with little heat build up.

This has been a very popular module for Hydrogen Fuel cells. Use this module to regulate the amount of current going into your Hydrogen fuel cell to prevent overheating.

Has a jumper selection for 12 or 24 Volt operation. Large spades for ease of connection. Use crimp on or push on connectors (not supplied) or solder directly to the spades.

Utilizes an LM324 and a P80NF5 mosfet from ST.COM
