Three light dependant resistor activated switches, each with a relay!

Each one has its own characteristics. By testing all three, you will be able to decide which circuit is the best for your particular application. If your application is in very bright or very dark conditions, then you can easily experiment with different resistor values to get better control over the switching range.

There is nothing original in these circuits. They have been taken from published material, but have each been redesigned onto similar PCB's, to allow easy comparison. A light/dark option has been incorporated into each as well.

We say "light/dark," because each circuit has a PCB-mounted switch on-board.

In one switch position, a light-to-dark transition will activate the relay. In the other position, a dark-to- light transition is required.

You can use the light falling on the detector to switch on a normally off circuit, or switch off a normally on circuit.

Each kit has a 12V relay rated to switch 240VAC at 5A, mounted on-board. So you can control almost any of your AC appliances, or almost any other load.

Advanced users could try using the relays to switch on a few household lamps around the house, because it's good for tricking burglars into thinking you're home - ready to defend your properties - when really you are obliviously enjoying a vacation far far away!

Each board runs on 12vDC.
